While a facelift is a popular procedure to eliminate signs of aging in the lower face and neck, the area under the eye down to the base of the nose is often the first area on the face to show signs of aging.  Sometimes it’s a hollow along the orbital rim or bulging fat under the eye, sometimes it’s a sagging of the cheek fat away from the cheek bone creating the "nasolabial fold", but this "midface" area is crucial to a youthful appearance.

There are many ways to address the aging in this area.  If the hollow under the eye is the only issue, an injection of a small amount of filler may solve the problem for a year or more.  Sometimes we can inject fat taken from other parts of your body into the cheek to blend an early descent of the cheek pad from the bone.  And sometimes we need to do a more extensive lift.

Many surgeons advocate two or three incisions to get this job done.  We have condensed these incisions down to one made under the lower eyelid, combining a mid-face lift with a lower lid blepharoplasty.  The result is a smooth round youthful cheek with a minimum of surgery.  In most cases, you will be able to return to work after about a week.
