If you feel the position of your eyebrows or excess lines and wrinkles on your forehead are detracting from your look, a brow lift might be a good choice.
Candidates for a brow lift are those with:
Brow lifts are most often sought by those between 40 and 60 years of age, but younger patients are also sometimes dissatisfied with the look of their brows. A consultation with one of the Austin-Weston’s board certified plastic surgeons can help you decide if a brow lift is right for you.
Some say that the perfect eyebrow starts at bone of the orbit near the base of the nose, rises gradually over the bone and peaks at the junction of the middle and outer thirds. The lateral or outside third falls gently, but remains above the bone. At the Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we offers several approaches for shaping and lifting brows, including the lateral brow lift, the central brow lift, and the endoscopic brow lift.
The lateral brow lift, also called a temporal brow lift, focuses on the outer part of the brows, correcting them if they are droopy without raising the full length of the brow too high. Small incisions are made at the temples, and the skin is lifted at the outer edges of the forehead. Lateral brow lifts can soften crow’s feet, but are more focused on lifting the outer ends of the eyebrows to create a more "open" look.
The central brow lift focuses on the area between the eyebrows and is best for a "scowling" look. Incisions are placed either at the hairline or endoscopically (see below), and the pull is directed straight up from the top of the nose.
An endoscopic brow lift reduces the size of necessary incisions, using a camera to aid in repositioning muscles in the forehead. Since the incisions for an endoscopic brow lift are quite small, this procedure is ideal for those whose hairstyle or quantity of hair make it harder to hide the scars.
